Glossary of Terms
Flat top:
The top of the
shutter is flat.

Arch top:
The top of the
shutter is a full arch.
Half Arch top:
The top of the shutter is a half arch.

Flat panel:
The shutter’s surface is flat.

Split board n batten:
Separate pieces of wood
attached together
to form the shutter. Required for exterior shutters wider than 11.25".

Board n batten:
One piece of wood routered from top to
bottom to appear like
separate pieces of wood.
You can choose the look of 2 or 3
sections.

Flush crossbars:
The crossbars are flush with the top and bottom or
flush with the sides of the shutter.

Inset crossbars:
The
crossbars are inset from the top and bottom.

Chunky crossbars:
The horizontal piece
of wood on the shutter. These are thicker and wider and usually
used in flush mounting.

Standard
crossbars: The horizontal piece
of wood on the shutter. These are mid sized and most common.

Primitive crossbars:
The horizontal piece
of wood on the shutter. These are skinnier and smaller.

Light distress:
Mildly distressing the wood. Paint is sanded on edges.

Moderate distress:
Greater degree of wood distressing, paint is sanded for weathered and aged look.
